Every time I see another story on the extraordinarily costly Colorado exchange, I continue to wonder why Colorado is duplicating the federal exchange. None of this exchange is necessary. It is all government fluff.

There's something to be said for both sides. No fledgling organization can survive without fiscal prudence, and a "blown-out" budget doesn't exhibit that. On the other hand, given the circumstances of reduced tax credits and other changes, it also makes sense that the call center may see an increase in traffic. Making people wait 30 minutes doesn't strike me as a helpful response. Neither does citing the recent election. The law is in place, the state has chosen to participate, and the process is in motion. Wanting to change course because of election results may suit Dr. Fallon's ideology, but it's a terrible way to run what is intended to be a service for citizens. So, by the way, is the apparent failure of the board to plan far enough ahead to anticipate these sorts of increased expenses. Both factions need to grow up and serve the public.
